If anyone is in the sad position to need a funeral director, Jayne Prior Funeral Directors should be at the top of your list. I would like to give a special thanks to the lady herself Jayne Prior who handled my dad’s funeral arrangement and for giving the family help and guidance to make difficult decisions for the funeral at what was and still is an incredibly distressing and upsetting time. Jayne dealt with everything she could. She came out to see my dad a week before he passed away to ensure his funeral would be to what he wanted and for accommodating every request. My dad spent his last night at home and he got the beautiful send off he deserved.
It was the personal touches that made the final goodbye special. A blue knitted heart placed in the coffin, the horses wore blue plumes and capes (blue being my dad’s favourite colour), framed photographs placed around the horse drawn carriage, and playing my dad’s favourite song Gimme Shelter at the graveside. It was also a nice touch for the family to walk in front of the hearse leading out of the estate.
I was also amazed by the respect shown by staff towards my dad by bowing to the coffin and knocking on the chapel of rest door before entering the room. Little things like that make it all the more special.
Jayne also managed to secure a grave that is only seconds away from my Nana and Granda’s grave, as my dad’s wish was to be near his mam and dad.

Huge shoutout to Jayne Prior and Jayne Prior Funeral Directors for taking charge of the whole service, for being very kind and professional and looking after me and my family every step of the way. We wanted my dad’s funeral to be a celebration of his life and that’s what it was. We would recommend Jayne and her staff with no hesitation x
I lost my darling husband very suddenly, and tragically. When I spoke to Jayne I could tell she was a warm and genuine lady who I could trust to take good care of my Michael. She came to see me at home and explained everything, and assured me that she would look after him for me. I asked for him to be dressed in his own clothes, and when I could visit him he looked so lovely, I could tell he was at peace. Seeing him gave me great comfort.
On the day of the funeral, Jayne and her staff were so kind and professional, ensuring that we were looked after every step of the way. It made a very difficult occasion so much easier for us.
The celebrant Debbie, put together a beautiful personalised service, and was also so kind and caring.
I wanted Michaels funeral to be a celebration of his life and that is what it was. Thank you Jayne, Debbie and everyone who cared for him. I cannot praise you enough.
These are absolutely amazing, they go above and beyond to help you. Jayne came to my house to visit all of my family, such a kind heart she has. She arranged for the humanist to come to mine and what a gentleman he is. She just took care of everything. Dressed my husband, even put his aftershave on for me. His resting place was beautiful and she always knocked on the door letting my husband know he had visitors. What a beautiful send off my husband had because of these amazing people, horse and carriage, humanist Gary was just amazing. They even joined in the colour theme that we wanted. The comments we have received have been tremendous. Most people have said its the best funeral they've ever been to and thats because of these beautiful people. Couldn't ask for anyone better. If I could give them 50 stars plus I would. Thankyou so much for making my husband, my children's dad and my Grandchildrens Grandas day amazing xx
On behalf of myself, husband and family would like to thank you and all your lovely staff for the amazing funeral you did for Margie you all really did her proud you were all so professional from our first meeting you made it so easy. Today was so special the horses, carriage flowers were stunning Margie would have been so proud of you all making her day so special. We do hope we meet again.

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank yous all for providing Lynn with such a perfect send off yesterday, your professionalism is top notch!She would’ve absolutely loved the pure “class” and high standard of the service you provided for her … and certainly would’ve loved all the attention too that’s for sure! and thanks for making her look so gorgeous and peaceful.
From day one you have provided us with genuine compassion and dignity. Your patience and understanding is appreciated too! Considering I was on the phone at all times of night changing things and struggling to make decisions, you stood by me giving me the best help and gentle guidance that you possibly could, so thanks for that! Nothing has been a problem and I’ll never forget it. But the biggest comfort was to know that Lynn was in the safest of hands, we couldn’t have wished for anything else Jayne. You’re the best! Thankyou for all your hard work, and your golden hearts!

"Well where do i start….
These words from myself & carl wont ever seem enough. Jayne & her staff are the most passionate & caring people ever. They have went above & beyond for us and our little girl who sadly passed away recently. Jayne kept us informed with every little thing she was doing and any updates that were needed to be said. The care & love they showed us but also gave our little girl emmie-rose was amazing. We told jayne what service we wanted and she done exactly that.
Everyday without fail jayne read our little girl stories , gave her cuddles for me and gave her that motherly love along with other members of staff who are mother’s theirself when i wasnt there and i couldnt thank them enough for that. I new emmie was being cared and respected beautifully….even after weve had emmies funeral Jayne still keeps in touch and has allowed us to go and speak to her which is amazing comfort for ourselves.
If anybody ever asked me if I recommend jayne prior the answer is most definitely within a heartbeat.

We used Jayne Prior Funeral Directors for the recent loss of our beautiful Mam. From the first contact both myself and my brother felt at ease and appreciated the guidance from Jayne and all her team. The care and compassion shown to ourselves and our Family and especially my Mam showed how caring but professional they are, nothing was too much trouble. Losing a loved one is devastating and you want your loved one to receive love, compassion and care. We received all of this and more from Jayne Prior Funeral Directors, as a family we are extremely grateful to Jayne and her team on the death of our brother Brian. The love and support we received on a daily basis from Jayne was unbelievable and exceptional, Jayne went above and beyond to give our brother a beautiful funeral that would make us proud. We have been inundated with messages from people who attended Brians funeral and they have expressed how his funeral was outstanding. We have previously lost family members and we have used different funeral directors , I only wish Jayne Prior Funeral directors had been established when we lost them as this funeral company is the best we have experienced. Jayne Prior and her team were amazing from start to finish, the personal touches and little extras i observed were nothing like i had seen before, nothing was too much and the support was second to none. the extra stuff that Jayne personally did for us, for the funeral without the families request was beautiful and I know my mam would have loved it, as did we, so thanks again Jayne. could not fault Jayne and the team one bit, they did such an amazing job with my mam, making her look so peaceful and younger, best funeral directors by far!

A week before my husband passed I spent all night researching funeral directors in Sunderland. I read all the feedback, comments and recommendations and Jayne Prior was simply the best. jayne and her team are the most honest, caring, respectful, supportive, professional and so down to earth they were simply amazing. They answered all of my questions honestly and respectfully and followed my wishes respectively. There are not enough words to thank you all so very very much. We would like to say thank you to Gary for organising a marvellous send-off for our mother. Nothing was too much trouble - bringing my mother home to Sunderland from Sheffield, keeping in touch with us on a regular basis and seeing that all aspects of the funeral ran perfectly. Gary and Jayne supported my Dad and I through the immediate aftermath of my Mum's death just before Christmas. Their care, professionalism and very personal service made sure that a very difficult time went as smoothly as possible. We never felt rushed or as if we were on a conveyor belt, and always knew that help was at the other end of the phone - at whatever time of day. Whilst prices are not at the forefront of your mind when dealing with the death of a loved one, the prices laid out by Jayne Prior are accurate, transparent and honest. I would wholeheartedly them and hope they can continue to build their business in Eston.
I have recently used Jayne Prior funeral directors to take care of my Michael. I will never be able to recommend the company enough. From travelling 12 hours to collect Michael until the day of the funeral he had the best care. Michael was treat with upmost respect and dignity from every member of staff. Jayne and Ashleigh have became like family nothing is ever a problem and they made sure Michael had the best send off that he deserved, they’re worth their weight in gold!!
